AIR TRAVEL :

What is an electronic ticket?     [ Back to top ]

  1. An electronic ticket or e-ticket is part of an airline’s “paperless ticket system” – your reservation is held in the airline’s reservations system, but no physical ticket is issued or required.
  2. At the check-in counter you will need just a recognised photo-ID (preferably a passport) in order to receive your boarding pass.
  3. Whilst it is not mandatory, it is a good idea to carry a printed copy of your itinerary with you when you travel. You can access and print out details in an itinerary format electronically.

What is the advantage with an electronic ticket?     [ Back to top ]

  1. Apart from the obvious environmental and cost savings, it also means that tickets don’t need delivery, and most importantly, e-tickets can’t be lost or stolen like printed ones.

When will I receive my tickets?     [ Back to top ]

  1. Under the electronic ticket system you will receive a itinerary confirmation email once you have completed your purchase.

Who can I contact if I have questions concerning my air reservations?     [ Back to top ]

  1. Where we have made your reservation on your behalf you should contact us - we’re only too happy to help, either via email: easycontact@easytahiti.com or directly by telephone on (+689) 466 800 monday till friday from 8AM till 5PM and saturday from 8AM till 12PM (Tahiti Time).

What are the authorised airline baggage allowances?     [ Back to top ]

  1. Please note that the following is a guide only – if you have any specific questions we would suggest that you contact the airline concerned directly

International Flights:     [ Back to top ]

  1. In Economy or Coach Class, passengers are able to check two pieces of up to 20kg (44lb) each. In addition one cabin bag, with total dimensions of less that 115cm (45in.) is permitted (eg. 50[l]+30[h]+25[w]per passenger).
  2. In First or Business Class, passengers are able to check two pieces of up to 30kg (66lb) each, and in addition may carry one cabin bag with total dimensions of less that 115cm (45in.)are permitted (eg. 50[l]+30[h]+25[w]per passenger).
  3. Please remember that airlines will charge a supplementary fee directly at check-in for any excess baggage. As this is generally expensive, we would suggest that you check the weight of your baggage before you depart for the airport.
  4. It is also important to note that if your travel includes inter-island flights, that you check the applicable baggage allowances as these are generally less-generous than those for international flights.

Inter-Island Flights (operated by Air Tahiti):     [ Back to top ]

  1. The allowance per passenger is generally 10kg (22lb) – however this is increased to 20kg (44lb) per passenger upon presentation of a passport accompanied by proof (a copy of your itinerary) of international arrival and departure travel.
  2. A cabin bag with total dimensions of less that 115cm (45in.) is permitted (eg. 50[l] +30[h] +25[w]per passenger).

How long before departure should I check-in?

  1. The general rule is that you should check in at least three hours prior to departure for an international flight, or at least one hour prior to departure for an inter-island flight.

What are the rules concerning the contents of carry-on baggage?     [ Back to top ]

  1. Heightened security worldwide means that you are limited in what you can carry on board – especially in terms of liquids. Those liquids, gels and creams that you wish to carry into the cabin must be presented to airport security separately in a sealed plastic bag of around 20cm X 20cm (8in. x 8in.) in size. You should also note that you may not carry a quantity of more than 100ml (3.3 oz) of any one item.
  2. easyAdvice: we strongly recommend that to expedite processing and generally make your travel as stress-free as possible, you check through as many articles in your suitcase, and limit the items that you carry on to the aircraft to just those items that are absolutely necessary.

How can I get further information on what articles are permitted?     [ Back to top ]

  1. We suggest that you contact the government security services at the international gateway airport from where you will depart for further information.

What are the departure and arrival times of my flights?     [ Back to top ]

  1. Flight timings are specified on the itinerary detailing your vacation arrangements.  We suggest that you provide easyTahiti.com with your contact details [pre-departure] so that we can contact you if we receive news of delay or change.
  2. Whilst an irregular occurrence, airlines can and do change flight schedules from time to time. In general unless the delay is operational, airlines will provide advance notice of these changes. We recommend that you check on flight times a week or so prior to departure if you have reserved two or months in advance.

ACCOMMODATION :

Can you better explain ‘international hotels’, ‘small family (owned) lodgings’, ‘cruising’ and ‘yacht charters’?

International Hotel Accommodation     [ Back to top ]

Tahiti’s tourism industry describes these international standard properties as ‘classified’, a description which relates to the generally high standards that these properties subscribe to.

There are around fifty properties which fall into this category, located on eleven of Tahiti’s islands predominantly in the Society Islands, with a number also in the Tuamotu Atolls, rounded off with a few in the  far-flung Marquesas Group. These hotels represent around 3,100 rooms, bungalows and suites each and every one with a style of its own. It is not hard to figure that with an average of around 62 units total per hotel that the majority of these hotels and resorts are small and intimate by global standards.

These properties carry an enviable list of internationally renowned and respected brands, each of which has adapted their signature products to the unique Tahitian environment. The adoption of Tahitian principles is especially present in the architecture with the extensive use of local materials such as thatched pandanus roofing, huge bamboo, native hardwoods, mother of (black) pearl shell, and a host of special touches that are distinctly stylish.

Of course, the most exquisite element of local style is the unique elegance and luxury of the overwater bungalow. This unique accommodation experience was created in the Tahitian islands in the late 1960’s by the well known Bali Hai Boys, a crazy bunch of Californians that settled in Moorea with their own (very hospitable) style of hospitality.

Climate, calm protected lagoons and unique local materials mean that the Tahitian overwater bungalow is undisputedly the most exotic and romantic accommodation available in the tropics. Whilst a number of other destinations have copied the concept, there is still nothing like the ‘real thing’.

Accommodation does not deliver romance. Breakfast delivered in an outrigger does. A private overwater balcony cocktail at sunset does. A late night show of fish dancing-in the-light through the Perspex floor of your bungalow does.

What international brands are present?     [ Back to top ]

In alphabetical order… Accor Hotels (4 Sofitel, 2 Novotel); Aman Resorts; Club Med; InterContinental Hotels & Resorts (4 Resorts); Four Seasons Hotels; Orient Express Hotels; Pearl Resorts; Radisson Hotels; Relais & Chateaux;  Starwood Hotels (2 Sheraton Resorts, 2 Le Meridien,  1 Luxury Collection, 1 St Regis);

Small Family (owned) Lodgings     [ Back to top ]

Probably one the South Pacific’s best kept secrets. Tahiti’s residents and a handful and friends, family and adventurers from around the world have been spoilt by a huge range of small family owned and run properties.

Ideal for those travellers who crave authenticity and the opportunity to meet locals, some of these properties are to be found in the most of amazing of locations and surroundings.

There are literally hundreds of these properties spread through the islands, each owned and managed by a local family, and there are a number of different levels of comfort and facilities available. Some properties will have up to 10 individual bungalows, others just a lone accommodation unit or bedroom within the family house.

Breakfast is included in the price, and many will offer another meal during the day either lunch or dinner. With freshly caught seafood from the lagoon, combined with superb fresh tropical fruits and vegetables, the food is a fabulous experience on its own.

Often the hosts will have their own list of activities and excursions that they will have developed to maximise their specific area. These will often range from lagoon trips, fishing, hiking, picnics, isolated ‘motu’ experiences and the like.

Whilst much of the focus here is on the ‘local experience’ those wanting the opportunity to escape and find idyllic peace and space are also well catered to.

What is a ‘pension’?     [ Back to top ]

This is the commonly used French description for these family own lodgings described above.

Cruising     [ Back to top ]

The hospitable waters of Tahiti and her Islands play host to more than 700 cabins in different cruise experiences. With the combination of ocean and lagoon cruising, and the spectacular scenery, this style of tourism is becoming more and more sought after?

Vessels range for the large luxury of Princess Cruises’ “Tahitian Princess”, to the elegance of Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ “Paul Gauguin”, through to the epitomy of private yacht exclusive intimacy aboard Bora Bora Cruises’ “Tu Moana” and “T’ia Moana”. At the other end of the scale, the mixed cargo and passenger operation onboard the “Aranui 3” is one of the world’s last remaining community life-line shipping services of its kind, whilst Archipels Croisières’ fleet of sailing catamarans offering adventure and flexibility.

The various options proposed offer incredible variety in their cruising grounds and the activities offered, as well as the choice between scheduled and charter operations.

Yacht & Boat Charters     [ Back to top ]

Totally underrated, Yacht Charters around the islands of Tahiti offer one of the very best options for those wanting an exceptional holiday. Mainly available in and around the Society Islands, the primary base is the island of Raiatea.

A number of companies offer options from bareboat to fully crewed and guided charters, with a number of motor vessels and game-fishing boats also available.

As a cruising ground these islands – especially the Society Islands’ Leeward Group – offer a remarkable number of sheltered natural mooring areas combined with easy navigation through excellent marking in passes and channels.

What is the difference between “half board” (demi-pension); full board (pension complete); and “all inclusive”?     [ Back to top ]

The term ‘half board’ generally indicates that pricing includes breakfast, and either lunch or dinner, although in most cases today it is dinner rather than lunch.

‘Full board’ indicates that there are three meals per day included in the tariff.

Whilst ‘all inclusive’ means that in addition to all meals, there are also snacks and house beverages (wine, beer & softdrinks) included in the price.

The individual elements included can vary from product to product – eg the included breakfasts can be either ‘Continental’ or ‘American’ – and you should check these in each product’s individual presentation and description.

Will I need to present a voucher each time I check in at my accommodation ?     [ Back to top ]

You will also need to remember that in almost all cases you will be asked by your accommodators to present a valid credit card to guarantee those expenses that you are required to pay direct over and above what you have pre-paid.

PRICING :

Are airport transfers included in the complete vacations?     [ Back to top ]

Yes. We generally always include airport and other necessary transfers, and it will be specified on your itinerary whether these are included or not.

Why are there differnces in prices at different periods – even for the same vacation ?     [ Back to top ]

This is simply due to the seasonality and demand fluctuations that apply to various components of your selected arrangements. The global village that is our word today means that the laws of seasonality may not follow accepted logic!

RESERVATIONS:

I have just made a request for a reservation – does that mean that it is confirmed?     [ Back to top ]

  1. As soon as you reservation is requested, our Tahiti-based team will confirm (where possible) arrangements. Our aim is to confirm your reservation during the same day we receive the request – in some cases this may not be possible – and we will keep you informed in the case where availability problems dictate itinerary changes be suggested.
  2. Once your arrangements are confirmed you’ll receive an email summary of your selected itinerary, and we’ll ask you to agree to our payment and booking conditions.
  3. Final confirmation of arrangements can only be effected once payment is made and you have accepted the booking conditions.

When will I receive the documentation for my travel?     [ Back to top ]

  1. Unless otherwise indicated your international air travel will be documented via e-tickets, and will therefore be forwarded to you by email once confirmed and paid. Vouchers are required for other components including accommodation, transport (including inter-island flights) and these will be delivered to you personally by the easyTahiti.com crew as part of your welcome pack upon your arrival at Tahiti’s Faa’a International Airport.

Once I have purchased my insurance, can I change or cancel the policy?     [ Back to top ]
