We sometimes hesitate about staying on Tahiti for the week end or more than one day but, there’s some beautiful things to do on Tahiti but still unknown…

I spend one sunny day going to “La Maroto” and it was just funny, surprising and fresh!
You have to leave Papeete and drive (with a good car) during about 1 hour before arriving in this peaceful area, in the mountains so far away from trafic, white sand beaches but only close to nature, fresh water, trees.

it is so different than what we can see everyday or what we can imagine of French Polynesia but so quiet, so fresh, so protected. I can just invite you to take a day or a half day to experience the waterfalls and the river bath.

Tetiaroa,

The mysterious Polynesian island jewel known as Tetiaroa is  a 4.5 mile wide atoll comprised of 12 motus and located just 36.5 miles north of Papeete. The charasmatic and moody Hollywood actor, Marlon Brando purchased Tetiaroa during the filming of the movie classic “Mutiny on the Bounty” in 1965.

We went there by boat (the only way today to go on Tetiaroa) and after 4 hours, you discovered a natural, wild and surprising island. We walked on the island, cross the lagoon (ate coconuts on the way…) and arrived on the birds island. What an amazing show!
It is quite difficult to explain the magnificience of what we saw, the boundlessness of lagoon, the different species of birds, this turquoise water, the white sand which is as soft as candy floss.

At this time, there is no hotel or guest house, no restaurant or snack, nothing except the white sand beach and the horizon . There is an eco-resort called “The Brando” which is actually under construction and will open in late 2011 whith 47 deluxe bungalow villas, a spa, a fitness center, a pool and many other activities.
it will be a unforgettable moment to stay there for all the Tetiaroa’ lovers!
