easyTahiti.com and Greenseat partners to protect the earth

TAHITI, 22nd AUGUST 2007:

easyTahiti.com, the Online Travel Agency and Tour Wholesaler specialised in Tahiti vacations, has settled a partnership with « GreenSeat », a company founded to launch renewable energy and reforestation programs to fight global warming and CO2 emissions.
Now, all easyTahiti.com customers will have the opportunity to compensate their CO2 emissions, caused by their flights.

Why compensate CO2 emissions?

When an aircraft flies it burns fossil fuel and as a result CO2 (carbon dioxide) and other greenhouse gasses are released into the atmosphere. The build-up of these gasses acts like a huge blanket around the earth trapping the heat and causing our atmosphere to warm up.
If we want to leave to our children a world, like it’s today, we’ve to take in account the impact of our lifestyle on the nature and correct the negative effects.

How compensate those emissions?

CO2 is taken out of the atmosphere by plants & trees that grow and store the CO2 in their tissue in the form of carbon. A tree is actually a huge storage facility of carbon. On top of that trees also give us Oxygen (the O2) as a 'by-product' of this storage process! Also generation of renewable energy has a climate neutral effect. For example by replacing polluting diesel engines used for home heating systems with solar systems. By compensating the emissions of your flight the total volume of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere remains constant.

GreenSeat compensation with easyTahiti.com

All our clients, for each of their reservation, have the option of buying (for an amount approx. equal to 2 to 5% of the airline tickets cost) the compensation of their CO2 emissions. Calculation is based on the length of the trip, and is made by a GreenSeat software automatically. Plus the payment is done directly on the GreenSeat website, the insurance that your money will 100ù dedicated to energy and reforestation projects.

When you buy a "GreenSeat" we use the proceeds to invest in renewable energy and energy saving projects. as well as plantation, management and protection of forests that store CO2 as they mature. This is done by our forestry partner the Face Foundation (Forests Absorbing Carbon dioxide Emission). The compensation projects are independently verified and certified.
