TAHITI, 7th JUNE 2007: One month ago today, Papeete-based Tahiti One Travel launched its innovative easyTahiti.com website. Tragically, just four days ago the company lost its founding CEO, Nelson Levy, when he died suddenly. 

Amidst the many salutes to his memory, Nelson has been widely acknowledged as a ‘pioneer of Tahiti’s modern tourism industry’. After more than 8 years as CEO of Tahiti Tourisme, Tahiti’s National Tourism Office, Nelson went forward to create Air Tahiti Nui, Tahiti’s multi-award winning International Airline.

Having overseen the 1998 launch of the airline, its growth to a fleet of 5 modern A340-300 aircraft, and development of scheduled Tahiti bound services from Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Auckland, Sydney, Tokyo and Osaka, Nelson left the airline in 2006 to create Tahiti One Travel.

Nelson and his close team of collaborators launched the company at the end of 2006, with a vision of creating a dynamic new style of virtual travel agency, using the latest technology combined with an intense focus on personal service.

Consistent with Nelson’s positive attitude to life and business, management, staff, and shareholders of Tahiti One Travel have unanimously agreed that they will continue to develop and grow the company to fulfil the legacy vision that he left behind. Nelson’s original management team will continue to manage the company.

Nelson was convinced that on-line travel, whilst the way of the future, was missing one essential ingredient, people – local knowledge, personal service & destination care. With the latest in available technology, easyTahiti.com is staffed by a team based in Papeete – the same team that guides its guests through its customised vacation reservations will meet them on arrival in Tahiti, and then be just a phone call away during their stay to help with everything from restaurant recommendations to excursion reservations to general destination advice.

In addition to air travel, inter-island transport and themed itineraries, the product focus is on a full range of accommodation offers in Tahiti’s islands. This extends from top-of-the-line resorts through to private island stays and on to homestay, bed-and-breakfast and rental bungalow accommodations.
