Le Maitai Polynesia Bora Bora  Three Stars Hotel

For a vacation of a lifetime or the most romantic honeymoon imaginable, we welcome you to Bora Bora, the Pearl of the Pacific.

Imagine pure tranquility, undisturbed nature, the most amazing sunsets, a gorgeous beach and the mesmerizingly beautiful turquoise lagoon full of coral, tropical fish, dolphins, turtles and other fascinating marine life.

You have always been dreaming of one the most beauti-ful lagoon in the world and of the old imposing volcano peak emerging from the sea. Bora Bora is accessible at last!
The Pearl of the Pacific, as baptised by Captain Cook when discovered, offers legendary scenery. Approximately 10 km long by 4 km wide, Bora Bora’s Mounts Pahia and Otemanu culminate at 700 meters of altitude. Draped in exuberant tropical vegetation, the attractive beaches and the motus (islets) scattered on the crystal-clear waters are a permanent invitation for discovery and exploring.
The unbelievably numerous shades of the lagoon around Matira Point are breathtaking, as if embedded with jade, turquoise and sapphire. The white sand beach leads to the warm and mesmerizing waters where a multitude of colourful fishes, corals and shells live.
Nestled in such an exceptional setting, Le Maitai Polynesia Hotel is the ideal place for an unforgettable stay. Located at the Southern tip of the island, within walking distance of famous Matira Point, this  charming, romantic property provides the amenities and services that are such an incredible value for money at a Three-star Plus hotel. Natural materials (pandanus thatched roofs, woven bamboo for the beach and overwater bungalows, rare and exotic woods, etc.) combined with elements of traditional Polynesian design including shells, carved mother-of-pearl and woods, are contributing to a warm atmosphere.
The island interior and its heights open to unsuspected panoramas and are filled with ancient legends or more recent history to be discovered during excursions. And when returning from a day filled with sensations and wonderful light, the calm and intimacy of your bungalow or room is waiting for you. The bar is the ideal place to relax around tropical fruit cocktails and one of the two restaurants proposes an original recipe blending the original flavours of a quality French cuisine with the aromas of Polynesian ingredients.

How to get there:
Interisland flights are easy to organize and readily available. It takes about 45 minutes to fly to Bora Bora from Tahiti with Air Tahiti. The airport of Bora Bora is located on motu Mute, a tiny islet in the northern part of Bora Bora.

Luggage needs to be identified upon delivery and loaded onto carts that board the Air Tahiti “Bora Bora Navettes”, a boat shuttle that takes you and your belongings to the main island. This boat trip takes about 20 minutes, offering a relaxing start of your Bora Bora vacation.

Your transportation to Le Maitai Polynesia Bora Bora will be waiting on arrival. It takes about 15 minutes by minibus from the main pier in Vitape (Bora Bora’s main village) to get to the hotel.

This entertaining programme includes a delicious Polynesian BBQ and Seafood buffet and an exciting show with fire dancers and other traditional Polynesian attractions. This... is not to be missed!

To give you a quick taste from our menu: Lobster stew or fish pate with herbs as a starter, grilled swordfish steak and pineapple sauce or pasta with scallops as a main course, then mango & white cheese parfait or chocolate cake for desert.

You can also choose from a range of soups and salads, or enjoy our succulent meat dishes including veal, lamb and duck. A children’s menu is available. Opening hours: 6.45pm (18.45) – 09.00pm (21.00) – every day.

The Haere Mai Restaurant may be closed at some times of the year, please contact us for any further information.

Tama’a Maitai

The restaurant faces the beach and the amazing lagoon is only a few steps away. Tama’a Maitai, meaning “bon appétit”, is open non-stop from b11.30 am through to dinner. The restaurant is built in Fare Potee - style (a French Polynesian Chief’s house or community meeting place). It has been built using traditional materials like aito wood and has a thatched pandanus roof and an open kitchen.

The ambience is relaxed and casual, and the menu comprises snacks, pizzas, fantastic burgers as well as fresh seafood and other more sophisticated specialties for your dinner. For example, raw tuna marinated with coconut milk, mahi-mahi fish burgers, T-Bone steak with garlic and lemon butter and coconut crème brulée or profiteroles with caramel or chocolate for dessert.

Bars :

Manuia Bar

The setting of our Manuia Bar is atmospheric, authentic, tasteful and relaxed. Regular live music and Happy Hour can be enjoyed here and the bar is surrounded by flourishing gardens.

DIVING:
With the huge coral reef and Bora Bora’s warm waters  showing the most amazing and ever-changing colors, it is no surprise that scuba diving and snorkeling are amongst the most popular and most exciting activities here.

Fun dives, lemon shark dives, drift dives and night dives, certification and introductory dives, it can all be organized for you. The water is warm and inviting and the marine life abundant. Local operators are professional, fully certified and cater for beginners as well as experienced divers.

Diving around Bora Bora is not limited to the lagoon. The open waters of the deep Pacific also offer many exciting dive sites to be explored.

You can expect to see manta rays, sea turtles, sharks, dolphins and even the migrating humpback whales if you are here between August and October.

Another unique encounter can be had in the lagoon near the Anau district. Here you will find a feeding station for manta rays. This is one of the world's rarest places as manta rays can be seen here practically all your around.

LAGOON CRUISES:
A real must-do activity for visitors to Bora Bora is a half day or full day Lagoon Cruise. The tour is highly recommended, and offers excellent value for money!

Step aboard and cruise along the crystal clear waters of the lagoon on your way to an amazing snorkel in the Coral Garden. Tropical fish come right up to your mask. It is a great thing to do, even if you have never snorkeled before. All equipment is provided.

Then the boat will take you to a truly magical place where you can feed rays and sharks. This is an exciting, once in a lifetime experience. All this takes place in shallow water and is entirely safe. The rays are friendly and social animals and they like to be admired and touched.

You will see gracious black tip reef sharks, about 1.5 m long, and they are not at all aggressive. They eat reef fish only and even the most curious ones have no interest in taking a bite of you.

After all this excitement it is time for a lovely Polynesian picnic on a secluded Motu. Enjoy the flavors of original French Polynesian food and learn about Tahitian culture with hands-on experiences like cracking a coconut open with nothing but a stick.

ISLAND TOURS:
Most of the Island’s life and activities focus on the lagoon, but another option is a 4x4 Jeep Safari Tour. It offers a bit of excitement and an interesting opportunity to see beautiful Bora Bora from a completely different perspective.

Local guides, known for their great sense of humor, will tell you all about the flora and fauna and the history of this mystical island. The jeep takes you up through the dense bush into mountainous terrain, where you will stop at a number of amazing look-outs offering spectacular scenery and great photo opportunities.

The tour fully circles the island on the coastal road and there are regular stops so you can take the time to explore the World War II canons, an ancient marae, famous resorts and other sights of interest. And for a half day tour, the price is extremely reasonable.

SHOPPING:
Bora Bora is not purposely designed for retail therapy but there are a number of shops of interest, especially if you are looking for black pearls, handicraft or souvenirs. The island has a post office, tourism information centre, grocery stores, hair & beauty salons and a pharmacy.
