Manihi :

At the end of the world can be found a necklace of islands, each one surrounded by beautiful and endless white sand beaches. Manihi’s lagoon is a kaleidoscope of magical colors. Her warm waters, perfect for water sports, are also favorable for the  production of one of Tahiti and her Island’s strongest symbols, the Tahitian black pearl; world famous for its moonlike beauty.

Cradle of pearl farming, Manihi hosts more than 30 pearl farms which gave her worldwide reputation, opening the way to the other pearl producing islands.
Visiting a farm is a must and will delight those willing to learn the secrets of mother-of-pearl which is legendary for its virtues.

There are also interesting relics of ancient “maraes”, especially in Tokivera and Farekura in the northern part and Kamoka in the
south. The lagoon is known for its exceptional underwater sights.

Deep and navigable, the Turipaoa pass next to the only village invites divers to drift along with numerous species of fish as well as manta rays and various kinds of sharks swimming around this enchanting underwater world.

An atoll at the edge of the world, Manihi has exceptional seabeds that attract international divers. Many species, including the marbled loach, come here to breed each year.

A fairy-like lagoon sprinkled with pearl farms: guided visits are organized to explain the process of pearl farming in Tahiti.

Activities: picnics on an undeveloped motu; longline fishing; deep sea fishing; round the island boat tours; snorkeling down the pass; boat hire with skipper; sunset cruises; glass bottom boat trips.
Three family boarding houses provide welcoming accommodation in an authentic tranquil and restful environment.

The village of Turipaoa, located beside the only pass, is populated by copra makers, fishermen and artists. The women can weave hats, baskets and small palm leaf toys in a flash.

Daily 1h15 min. flights and a regular boat service (3 days by sea with stopover on the other islands of the archipelago).

Health: an infirmary at the main village.
Banks: as there are no banks or ATM’s on the atoll it is better to bring cash.
